Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 638 new Covid-19 cases, of which 93 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,12,805. Active caseload in the state now stands at 6,900.
Out of the 638 new infections, 372 were reported from quarantine centres while 266 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 609 cases of coronavirus infections Monday.
Odisha also recorded seven (07) more fatalities in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 8,062, according to a tweet from the state’s Health and Family Welfare department Tuesday morning. Monday, the state reported eight (08) Covid-19 fatalities.
Angul and Cuttack reported two death cases each while Bhubaneswar, Khurda and Puri reported one cases each.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 245 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 66 new infections.
Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Angul (17), Balasore (33), Bargarh (7), Bhadrak (14), Balangir (2), Boudh (1), Deogarh (3), Dhenkanal (9), Gajapati (9), Ganjam (4), Jagatsinghpur (22), Jajpur (32), Jharsuguda (2), Kalahandi (2), Kendrapada (15), Keonjhar (14), Koraput (3), Malkangiri (5), Mayurbhanj (22), Nawarangpur (4), Nayagarh (2), Puri (18), Rayagada (4), Sambalpur (14 ) Sonepur( 2) Sundargarh (15).
The State Pool reported 52 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,85,34,435 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 727.
