Bhubaneswar: Speaker Surya Narayan Patro Monday adjourned the Odisha Assembly till 11.30 am as BJP members created a ruckus over the Mahanga double murder case.
As soon as the House assembled for the day at 10.30 am, Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik had requested the Speaker to allow him to speak on the Mahanga double murder case.
When the Speaker told him that he would be allowed to speak during Zero Hour, the saffron members rushed to the Well and disturbed the proceedings.
Finding it extremely difficult to run the House, the Speaker had to adjourn the House till 11:30 am.
Notably, due to BJP and Congress MLAs creating a ruckus over paddy procurement and the BJD members demanding an apology from BJP lawmaker Subash Panigrahi who had attempted suicide in the Assembly by drinking sanitiser, a stalemate had continued for six days since the day one of the second phase of the Budget Session.
Normalcy in the House had returned March 19 after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had March 18 assured aggrieved lawmakers that their grievances and demands would be looked into.
