Bhanjanagar: Odisha Vigilance officials Wednesday raided the residence and office of Bhanjanagar Additional Civil Supply Officer (ACSO) on allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The team of sleuths – comprising five DSPs, 12 Inspectors and other staff – conducted raids at as many as seven places in Khordha, Ganjam, and Mayurbhanj districts.
The searches were still underway at the time of filing this report.
As per the statistics released by Odisha Vigilance Directorate, the sleuths registered 267 criminal cases against corrupt government staff in 2021 whereas 245 cases were registered in 2020.
The statistics showed that 175 government officers were arrested in 2021 on charges of possessing disproportionate assets (DA), taking bribes and misappropriating government funds which included 23 class-I officers, 28 class-II officers and 104 class-III employees.
