Bhadrak: Tension prevailed at Orali Square on the Anandapur-Bhadrak road late Saturday night after villagers of Orali and Apanda in the Bhadrak district clashed with each other over a dispute on border.
As a result of the clashes, more than ten people were injured, properties worth lakhs were damaged, several bikes and other vehicles were burned, and several shops were vandalised.
After receiving information, four fire brigade units arrived on the scene and put out the fire.
In order to maintain law and order, senior police officials arrived on the scene and two platoons of police were deployed.
It can be mentioned here that Orali Square is located on the border of Orali and Apanda revenue villages in the Bhadrak district. Villagers of Apanda wanted the square to be named after their village which was opposed by the Orali villagers.
The problem arose when some people of Apanda tried to install a signboard Saturday night naming the spot as Apanda Square which was opposed by the villagers of Orali.
