Bhubaneswar: All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association Monday announced that the proposed indefinite strike, which was scheduled to begin October 10, has been put on hold till October 31, 2023.

Following a steering committee meeting Monday, the association postponed the stir.

“The Odisha government has agreed to provide permits to old buses and extend the deadline for fitment of VLDT and panic buttons by another year. On our demand regarding Mo Bus, the government assured us that there will be no extension of Mo Bus. A review meeting on our demand for financial assistance will be held October 13,” All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association’s secretary Debendra Sahoo told reporters here.

The Association had initially called for an indefinite strike throughout the state to voice various grievances, including their opposition to the Odisha government’s introduction of affordable transportation services as part of the Location-Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) scheme.

According to a source, the association had previously submitted a proposal to the state government, requesting permission for their buses to operate in rural areas under LAccMI scheme.
