Odisha Cabinet approves Rs 2,000 crore developmental plan for VSSUT

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday approved a proposal for implementation of the institute development plan with an outlay of Rs 2,000 crore for transformation of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, (VSSUT) Burla.

Briefing newspersons after the Cabinet meeting Chief Secretary PK Jena said it will broaden the horizon and give an impetus to multi-disciplinary teaching and research.

This will also help in introducing new generation industry-oriented and employment-linked courses and will expand the scope for opening different schools to deliver multi and inter-disciplinary courses and would enable the university to have better access to academic resources and intellectual capital worldwide.

This will facilitate the University to have a strong focus on research and introduce doctoral and post-doctoral programmes.

VSSUT, Burla was established in 1956 as an engineering college in the name of the University College of Engineering (UCE) to promote education, research and training in engineering and technology and the State Government upgraded it to a technical university in 2009.
