Bhubaneswar: Along with the rest of the country, the fifth International Yoga Day was observed across Odisha Friday, with yoga camps organised at several locations.
Governor Ganeshi Lal and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice President Baijayant Panda participated at a session here where a large number of people from different sections of society also participated.
King of Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb also participated at a yoga programme in Bhubaneswar.
School students and civil society members were seen coming out in large numbers to promote and practice Yoga.
The Governor urged everyone to take up yoga to get inner peace. The nature of yoga is to shine the light of awareness into the darkest corners of the body, he added.
Border Security Force (BSF) troopers also celebrated yoga day at Maoist-affected Malkangiri district of Odisha.
Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a sand sculpture with the theme ‘Surya Namaskar’.
Pattnaik used around seven tonnes of sand to create sand art at the Puri beach.
