Koraput: Chief Secretary (CS) of Odisha, Suresh Chandra Mahapatra visited the Janiguda-based strawberry farm under Kotia panchayat of Pottangi block in Koraput district Sunday and took stock of the livelihood opportunities it is generating for the local farmers, officials said.
Mahapatra met farmer Basna Gemel and asked about the latter’s income from strawberry cultivation. He also ate strawberries cultivated on the farm and appreciated its taste.
Koraput District Collector Abdaal M Akhtar, chief development officer-cum-executive officer, Zilla Parishad Gaurav Shivaji Isalwar, project director Arun Kumar Das of Koraput Watershed Mission, additional project director Ashok Senapati, PD, ITDA Karu Soren, SEO Partha Saru and PA Manjulata Pattnaik and several strawberry farmers were present during his visit.
