Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Friday approved 416 new posts for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), informed a source.
With this the total strength of the BMC has gone up from 210 to 626, added the source.
Patnaik said the initiative would protect the historical dignity of the heritage city and help the corporation become more efficient and proactive.
Chief Minister’s office sources said the number of Additional Commissioner has been increased from one to four, the number of Deputy Commissioners from three to 16 and the number of Assistant Sanitation Commissioners from four to 13.

Similarly, the strength of Civil Executive officers has been increased from two to six. These apart, six new Zonal Commissioner posts, 11 new posts in the finance department, 17 in the engineering department, 13 in social welfare department, 19 in enforcement department and 187 posts in ward office section were created, added the source.
The source further informed that twenty new posts in drainage department, five in sanitation department and 67 new ward officers posts have also been created in the Corporation.
