Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Tuesday came down heavily on the state government for its alleged misleading statements on data relating to construction of roads in the state.
Addressing the media, OPCC spokesperson Satyaprakash Nayak cited anomalies in the data relating to road construction in the state as furnished by the state government at several platforms including advertisements as well in its response before the state Assembly.
Nayak said the state government through its advertisements recently had claimed the state had beaten Bihar and other states in road construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). “However, the same government is giving different statement on the floor of the assembly,” he said.
Nayak said that as per the government’s claims in the advertisements, the state constructed more than 7,000kms of roads under the scheme, but in the assembly, it put out the figure as 5,372kms, which included 1,581 projects and 52 bridges. He said the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) should refrain from befooling the people by making contradictory statements.
