Odisha crosses 10,000 mark in new COVID-19 cases; Khurda highest with 1,796

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 10,413 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 4,54,607. Active caseload in the state stands at 67,086. Out of the 10,413 new infections, 5,887 were reported from quarantine centres while 4,526 persons contracted the virus locally.

Total COVID-19 fatality of patients while under treatment in hospitals as reported by state Health and Family Welfare department is 11.

Khurda district has registered the highest number of new cases with 1,796 persons testing positive for the disease, followed by Sundargarh with 1,100 new infections.

A total of 1,01,34,118 swab samples have been cumulatively tested in the state so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 5,014.

Other districts that have reported new COVID-19 cases are: Cuttack (828), Puri (533), Bargarh (511), Jharsuguda (442), Sambalpur (426), Nuapada (418), Angul (392), Nabarangpur (378), Kalahandi (376), Jajpur (332), Mayurbhanj (247), Jagatsinghpur (241), Ganjam (232), Nayagarh (218), Bhadrak (201), Rayagada (200), Bolangir (160), Gajapati (156), Subarnapur (130), Keonjhar (126), Balasore (124), Deogarh (103), Boudh (87), Kendrapara (77), Koraput (68), Kandhamal (55), Malkangiri (54) and Dhenkanal (42).

The State Pool reported 360 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside the state and have tested positive.
