Bhubaneswar: Akshay Kumar — popularly known as DJ Azex — was found dead at his Bhubaneswar residence under mysterious circumstances, a source said Sunday.
Kharvelnagar Police has kept his body in Capital Hospital mortuary and launched an investigation in this regard. An FIR has been lodged by the family members with the police.
Bhubaneswar Zone-1 ACP Manas Gadnayak said that their preliminary investigation suggests the DJ died by suicide.
One of Azex’s relatives, on the condition of anonymity, said that Azex was in his room Saturday evening. When the family members tried to open the door of his room at around 10 PM, it was closed from inside. Later, they found his body hanging after breaking into the room.
Deceased DJ’s uncle Bholanath Moharana accused Azex’s girlfriend and her male friend of ‘blackmailing’ Azex which led to his death.
One of Azex’s friends said that Azex’s girlfriend used to extort money from him. Besides, she along with her male friend used to mentally harass the DJ over some pictures or videos.
The deceased DJ’s family members demanded a thorough probe in this regard.
