Bhubaneswar: A team of doctors took off Saturday to treat as many as 800 critical patients in Nabarangpur district under ‘Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seba’ (Air Health Services scheme), an official source said Saturday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seba scheme in December 2021.

According to Health and Family Welfare Secretary Shalini Pandit, under the scheme, specialist doctors fly to isolated regions of the state to treat patients who are admitted to the district headquarters hospitals there.

Every service provided by this programme is free of charge, and if necessary, patients in need of advanced care can get ferried to Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

As per the official source, specialist doctors like neurologists, nephrologists, cardiologists from various medical colleges and corporate hospitals, mainly from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, will be flown to the aforementioned four district headquarters hospitals for critical care of patients.
