Paradip: An unidentified man climbed onto a Paradip fishing boat about 110 kilometres from Chilika shore while the vessel was still at sea.
Little is known about the man as of now and the police await the return of the boat to Paradip coast Friday to further investigate the matter.
According to a source, the incident took place Wednesday night when the fishing boat from Paradip had halted at sea to catch fish. The unidentified person climbed onto the boat out of nowhere.
While the boat crew were shocked to see him, they decided to let him remain onboard as no other boat or island was nearby.
The fishermen assume the unidentified man to be a passenger on some ill-fated boat that either sank or faced mechanical failure rendering him stranded. However, they also suspect that the man could have been an infiltrator. The man speaks a language that the fishermen can not comprehend.
The fishing crew, along with the rescued man, were travelling back to the Paradip port at press time. Cops are expected to grill the man to discover his origin and circumstances that left him stranded at sea.
