Berhampur: A special team of the excise department has seized four quintals of ganja and arrested two persons in Ganjam district of Odisha, a source said Sunday.
Based on a tip-off about ganja smuggling, a squad of the excise department conducted a raid near Mahurikalua area in Ganjam Sunday, the source added.
Subsequently, the squad spotted a vehicle carrying the contraband and seized it. Local police detained two persons in this connection.
Earlier a police team from Sorada Police Station in Ganjam district February 18 seized 350 kilogram of ganja worth Rs 25 lakh near Gochha village on the Gochha-Gajalbadi Road.
Besides that, the excise department in Sambalpur district arrested three persons at Sasan check gate while they were smuggling 80 kilogram of ganja from Nabarangpur’s Umerkote to Delhi.
