Bhubaneswar: Low pressure-induced rains across the state have led to severe waterlogging in many parts.
As heavy rainfall continues in Odisha, the water of River Baitarani has swollen. Flood-like situations have emerged at several places in Bhadrak district.

Similarly, civic life at ward No. 11, 12, 17, 18, 20 and 21 in Kendrapara town has halted from Thursday morning due to knee-deep water seen everywhere. Residents in Kendrapara district fear that the situation might be more horrible if the rainfall continues.
On the other hand, a team of officials arrived at the waterlogged areas and assessed the situation. Normal life continued to remain out of gear in these wards till last report came in.
As per available reports, all panchayats under Bhandaripokhari block and seven panchayats under Dhamnagar block have been waterlogged. Floodwater is also flowing above Sarata bridge near Malada.
Meanwhile, road connectivity between Jajpur and Dhamnagar has been completely disrupted. The water level is reportedly two metres above danger level near Akhuapada anicut.
Flood scare gripped the locals of Keonjhar following heavy rainfall in the upper catchment area of River Baitarani which caused the water level flow two metres above the danger mark of 38.36 metres at Rajaghat.
Several villages in the low-lying areas of Remuna and Balasore Sadar were inundated with floodwater due to steady rise in the water level of Budhabalanga, Suna and Jalaka rivers as well.
The spectre of a fresh flood looms large over two north Odisha districts as two rivers — Jalaka and Baitarani — are in spate following incessant rains for the last couple of days.
