Bhubaneswar: Online application for 941 posts of fireman and fireman driver is underway and will continue till September 30.

The notification for Odisha fireman recruitment was released last month and the online application for the same started from September 1.

Vacancy details of Odisha fireman recruitment:

Fireman: 826 posts
Fireman driver: 115 posts

Salary of Odisha fireman:

The official notification read that the salary will be around Rs 19,900 (Level-4, Cell-1). It further read that the government may provide dearness allowance and other allowances in the future.

Eligibility criteria:

Educational Qualification: Candidates having Plus-II qualifications from any recognised institute can apply for the notified posts.

Ideal candidates should be able to read, speak and write in Odia language. He/ she must have passed High School Certification (HSC) examination with Odia as a subject or have passed similar examinations conducted by School and Mass Education department in Odia language.

Age: The age of the candidate should be between 18 to 25 as on January 1, 2023.

Note: According to the notification, woman and physically challenged persons are not eligible to apply for the advertised posts.

Selection Process:

Written Examination, Physical Efficiency Test, Document Verification

Exam Pattern:

The exam will comprise 100 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each. The duration of the examination is 2 hours. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer. The examination will carry questions from subjects such as: a) English and Odia language b) General studies c) Computer fundamental and IT Skills.

What is Odisha Fire Service?

As per the official website, the Odisha Fire Service started functioning with effect from March 1, 1942. It has nearly 341 fire stations across the state. Originally it was a part of the police organisation. Later the Odisha Fire Service with increasing duties and responsibilities functioned as an independent entity for long till it got statutorily separated from the police organisation with the legislation of Odisha Fire Service Act in 1993.

Odisha Fire Service has three training facilities; the Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Academy (OFDRA), Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Institute (OFDRI) and Odisha State Watermanship and Life Guard Institute (OSWALI), as per the official website
