Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has asked West Bengal government counterpart to remove signboard on the road leading to Udaypur beach near the Odisha-West Bengal border within 15 days. The West Bengal Irrigation and Water Resources department has put up a signboard on the road.
“If no action is taken by the West Bengal government within the stipulated period, the local administration will remove the sign board,” said Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty Saturday.
The issue was pointed out by local MLA and Higher Education and Industries minister Ananta Das. The signage in question has been put up on a road built by the Odisha government and the West Bengal government states it is part of Digha beach.
At the meeting held in the State Secretariat, it was decided that a check gate along with other infrastructure development will be built at the border to attract tourists. The Forest and Environment and Tourism departments will take up development work of Udaypur beach. The Revenue department will also construct an inspection bungalow there too.
