Odisha govt streamlines Kharif paddy procurement process; entrusts monitoring to 12 officials

Bhubaneswar: In order to streamline the Kharif paddy procurement process and to avert the sort of mismanagement that had brewed resentment during Rabi season this year, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FS&CW) department entrusted the charge of monitoring to 12 senior officials for different districts, Sunday afternoon.

According to official sources, FS&CW Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain has appointed the 12 designated officers as districts in-charge and directed them to monitor the procurement on a regular basis.

The officials were asked to extensively tour their respective districts and interact with local farmers as well as members of different cooperative societies. If needed, the officials will take steps to address the latter’s issues on time, the department sources added.

Notably, the charge of Bargarh district was given to Managing Director of Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation Biswajeet Keshari Das. Likewise, the charge of Sambalpur district was given to Sushant Barik, Kalahandi to Dhirendra Kumar Sahu, Nuapada to Ajit Kumar Patra, Subarnapur to Bharat Chandra Behera, Bolangir to Sudarshan Sethi, Koraput to Narendra Kumar Rout, Boudh to Santosh Kumar Das, Sundargarh to Jyoti Kumar Lakra, Keonjhar to Susant Kumar Panda, Jharsuguda to Krushna Chandra Das and Rayagada to Sudhakar Sabar, an officer of the FS&CW department said.

The Minister has also instructed Registrars of cooperative societies to setup control rooms in their respective districts.
