Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will increase the number of Plus-II seats in the higher secondary schools if the need arises, School and Mass Education Minister Pramila Mallik said Saturday.

Notably, the state government is mulling to increase the number of seats as the pass percentage of this year’s Class-X is 96.4 per cent.

Mallik assured that necessary measures will be taken so that no students will suffer from the inadequacy of seats in the state. She further added that some changes will be made regarding Class-X summative Assessment-I and II examinations.

Responding to a question on supplementary examinations, the minister said that the process for form fillup will begin soon so that students do not have to waste one academic year. However, she did not mention the exact date on which the form fillup process will begin.

It can be mentioned here that, this year, girls outshone boys in the Class-X board examinations. The pass percentage of girl students stood at 97.05 per cent while 95.75 per cent boys cleared the examinations. Of the total students who cleared the examinations, 4,158 students got A1 grade while 29,838 got A2, another 77,567 were awarded B1 and 11,8750 students were accorded B2 grades.
