Heatwave to get worse in these Odisha districts; IMD issues weather advisory

Bhubaneswar:  The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Tuesday forecasted no relief from blistering heat at least for the next four days due to the prevailing heatwave condition in Odisha.

The weather agency predicted no large change in maximum temperature (day) over the next five days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

It is likely to be above normal by 4-6 degree Celsius at one or two places in the state over the next five days. Consequently, hot and humid weather is likely during the next five days. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside from 11am to 3pm.

The regional centre of IMD also issued an Orange Warning for heatwave to severe heatwave in Odisha’s several districts.

Upto 8.30 AM of June 14: As per the Orange Warning (be prepared), heatwave to severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts.

As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts, the IMD bulletin stated.

As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Rayagada districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nuapada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of June 14 to 8.30 AM of June 15: As per the Orange Warning (be prepared), heatwave to severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Bargarh, Subarnapur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts.

As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts.

As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Balasore and Kalahandi districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of south Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of north Odisha.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 35 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 46.1 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 21.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Nayagarh, the bulletin informed.
