Bhubaneswar: International Olympic Committee (IOC) will promote the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) among the school students in Odisha with a focus on the values of Friendship, Excellence and Respect.
A team of delegates led by Director Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage (OFCH) Sunday met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and discussed the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) being implemented in the state.
The delegation included Director of Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage- IOC Angelita Teo, Head International Cultural Affairs-IOC Frederique Jamolli, Senior Manager Education-IOC Xenia Kourgouzova, and Founder, Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust Olympian Abhinav Bindra.
Odisha was the first state to implement OVEP in India and Chief Minister Patnaik had launched the initiative in May 2022.
Since then 32,000 young children have been impacted by this programme which was introduced in 90 schools across Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The program is all set to scale up and impact more than 1.5 lakh school children in 250 schools in the state.
The Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage visited the OVEP intervened school in Bhubaneswar Sunday.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Odisha Department of School and Mass Education (SME) and the Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust.
The Chief Minister handed over the delegation a letter inviting the IOC President Thomas Bach to Odisha when he comes to India for the IOC session in Mumbai later this year in October.
