Bhubaneswar: Four persons in Odisha lost their lives in separate road accidents, sources said Sunday.
A minor girl died after she was hit by a tractor at Katapali village under Dunguripali block in Odisha’s Subarnapur district, a source said Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Sruti Pradhan (10), daughter of Anirudha Pradhan.
According to the source, the girl was riding a bicycle when the tractor ran over her.
After the mishap, enraged locals blocked the village road. The villagers demanded compensation for the family of the deceased, the source informed.
Police reached the spot and made efforts to pacify the villagers.
In another incident in Odisha’s Nayagarh district Sunday, a pickup truck and a mini-truck collided on Chandapur bypass on National Highway 16. The accident claimed one life while injuring six others, another source said.
The injured were taken to a hospital in Nayagarh district for treatment.
Besides, two more accidents were reported in the state today.
One near Manpada area on Brahmagiri-Delang road in Puri district, where a bus rammed into a two-wheeler, leading to the two-wheeler rider’s death.
The deceased was identified as Kamal Samantray who was a resident of Apithi village in Puri district.
Similarly, another accident took place near Kendrikala village in Sundargarh district in which a speeding truck crashed into a two-wheeler.
According to the source, one person was killed and two others were injured due to the mishap. The truck driver sped away following the accident. Locals reached the spot and sent the victims to a nearby hospital.
Police have launched an investigation into the mishap. A manhunt is on to nab the truck driver.
