Bhubaneswar: Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi’s highest honour, ‘Dharmapada Purashkar’, will be conferred upon seven eminent artists for as many years Monday.
For the year 2009, late Gokul Bihari Pattanayak will be awarded posthumously. The award for 2010 will be conferred upon eminent artist, theatre artiste and director, actor, art director, playwright and set designer late Asim Basu.
The recipients for the years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 are ex-principal, Government College of Art and Craft, Khallikote, Durga Prasad Das, sculptor Padma Shri Sudarshan Sahoo, artist Jatin Das, sculptor and art critic late Dinanath Pathy and Padma Vibhushan Raghunath Mohapatra respectively.
Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, under the department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture gives away the award to eminent artists. It carries a purse of Rs1lakh, a citation and a shawl. Given the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, no award ceremony will be organised and the awards will be handed out to the recipients at their respective residences, it is learnt.
The award could not be conferred upon the eminent artists for their contribution since 2009 as the matter was subjudice.
