Cuttack: Following the order of Orissa High Court, all lower courts and tribunals have started their functions from Monday. Meanwhile all the proceedings will be done virtually.
Notably, Orissa High July 18 had issued a directive mentioning, to stop the functioning of courts in the area where the district administration has imposed lockdown and shutdown restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The HC also said that the lower courts and tribunals with poor internet connections or any other technical problems, the proceedings can be done in the court premises by following all the COVID-19 guidelines.
HC further directed that the not to force any witness or accused to appear before court if it is not required.
On the other hand, the HC will continue to function as per the schedule through virtual mode. New cases can be filed by email, e-filing or drop box, said a notification issued by High Court Registry.
