Rourkela: A man was arrested for allegedly making a threat call to a businessman in a bid to extort Rs 50 lakh from him, police said Monday.
The man, identified as Aman Sharma, is accused of earlier duping people by operating a fake Facebook account in the name of a former MLA.
Sharma, in his thirties, called up Sanjay Nanda, a transport businessman of Sundergarh town, and demanded Rs 50 lakh from him, threatening to murder him and his entire family if his demand was not met, a police officer said.
The accused was nabbed from Jharsuguda Sunday evening. He was earlier booked for collecting money by impersonating former Sundergarh MLA Jogeswar Singh.
