Odisha Matric exam 2024 begins

Bhubaneswar: The annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination 2024 conducted by Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha commenced across the state at 9am Tuesday.

As many as 5.51 lakh students are expected to appear in the examination across 3,047 centres in the state, BSE said. The state board examination will continue till March 4.

The protesting teachers of Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Association (OSSTA) Monday decided to cooperate in the conduct of the examinations. OSSTA secretary Ranjan Dash, after a discussion with department officials, informed that they will not play with the students’ future and will cooperate in the conduct of examinations. However, they will silently and symbolically continue their protest.

According to a source, the evaluation process will begin March 16 and is likely to be completed by March 30. For the first time, CCTV cameras have been installed in highly sensitive centres for smooth conduct of the examination.

The board has advised students to reach centres one and a half hours before the commencement of the examination. While the examination begins at 9am, the students must enter the hall at 7:30am, and at 8:15am, the gate of the centre will be closed. OMR sheets will be given at 8:30am and question papers will be given at 9 am, BSE authorities informed.
