Bhubaneswar: TIME Magazine has named Mayurbhanj district in its list of ‘World’s Greatest Places In 2023’- which features 50 extraordinary destinations to explore in the world.
Alongside Mayurbhanj, India’s Ladakh is also featured in the list.
The magazine wrote Mayurbhanj as a place of rare tigers and ancient temples.
The magazine mentioned Simlipal National Park’s reopening in November 2022 in the description. It said that now, visitors could take guided safaris or self-guided bicycle tours to discover the distinctive flora and fauna of the national park.
It can be mentioned here that only 60 vehicle entry permits are available each day in Similipal National Park. This is done to safeguard the Similipal’s ecosystem, which is home to over 40 species of mammals including Asian elephants and Bengal tigers.
Following a pandemic break in April, Mayurbhanj Chhau — a captivating dance festival on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage — will take place on a considerably larger scale, read the magazine.
