Koraput: Two minor siblings drowned while allegedly playing in a pond at Pipalaput village under Lamtaput block of Odisha’s Koraput district.
The siblings have been identified as five-year-old brother Yogesh and 10-year-old sister Santoshi.
The incident took place when Jinu Garnayak – father of the deceased duo – was doing his day’s work on a farmland, a source said.
The source added that the siblings were playing near the field and later they went to the pond.
Realising his children’s absence for a prolonged time, Jinu started searching for them. Later he called for help from the villagers. They all looked about and discovered the siblings’ floating bodies in the pond. They were rushed to a nearby hospital but the doctor pronounced them brought dead.
After being informed, a police team arrived at the village. Both bodies were sent for post-moterm and an investigation is underway.
