Jajpur: Body of a person, who went missing since April 17, was found hanging from a tree on a hill near Dhanmandal area in Odisha’s Jajpur district, a source said Thursday.
Earlier, the missing person’s two-wheeler was recovered near the hill following which three police teams launched a search operation in the area. Later, the search party found the body Thursday morning and sent it for post-mortem, Jajpur SDPO Sanjay Patnaik informed.
The deceased was identified as Suryakant Kuanr who was a CRPF jawan. He hailed from Somapur village under Erasama Police limits in Jagatsinghpur district.
Meanwhile, Suryakant’s family members demanded that the exact reason behind the CRPF jawan’s disappearance and death should be revealed with proper investigation.
One of Suryakant’s relatives said that the victim was not mentally weak to commit suicide.
Notably, Suryakant came home on leave for the last rites of his grandmother April 17 after which he went missing.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances under which the victim went missing and died.
