Rourkela: Mystery shrouds the death of assistant collector Susmita Minz whose dead body was found floating in the Century Park pond Tuesday in a suspicious condition in front of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) here.
Speaking about the case, IIC of Plant Site PS Jyoti Ranjan Pati informed that the police were yet to get the post-mortem report. “The report will be available to us tomorrow. Then only I can say something about the case,” said the IIC adding that the boundary wall on the parking lot, which is just adjacent to Century Park pond is of very short height and anyone can enter from that side by jumping over it. “Perhaps no one could spot her because of that. We saw her activities in the CCTV footage of the hotel and there was nothing suspicious,” he said.
The assistant collector’s dead body was found floating in the Century Park pond Tuesday. Before that, she was staying in Radhika Regency Hotel. Sources said she had a disturbed family life and was attending office from Rambahal, near Rajgangpur.
She went missing since September 15 and family members filed a complaint with police two days later. She was traced to the hotel September 18 but did not return home. Finally, her body was found floating in the Century Park pond, September 19.
Meanwhile, her mother Selvestin Minz has said she was dealing with too much work pressure and there was no respite for her. “She was tortured and harassed at office and used to be in a very depressed mood.” “Only the Collector and the ADM know the real facts and we want justice and nothing else,” she said to the media.
ADM Rourkela Dr. Subhankar Mohapatra declined to comment anything about the whole incident. He brushed aside all questions put forth by the mediapersons. Meanwhile, the deceased’s uncle has raised his finger at one of the BDOs of the district. Alleging this to be a murder, he questioned how she could commit suicide when police protection was given to her.
