Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Sunday inaugurated a series of people-oriented programmes on the auspicious occasion of ‘Akshaya Tritiya’.
Notably, ‘Akshaya Tritiya’ is an agrarian festival that marks the commencement of agricultural activities by farmers across the state.
The Chief Minister participated in the ‘Akhi muthi anukula’ (ceremonial act of sowing seeds) in the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology campus and conveyed his best wishes to the farmers.
Patnaik launched a Millet Shakti Cafe in Lok Seva Bhawan. The government has launched the millet mission to fight malnutrition. So far 142 millet outlets have already been opened in the state.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated an agriculture review centre in ‘Krushi Bhawan’. It will function as a central command and control system. It will collect real-time information from the field level through the application of computer and Information Technology and help in taking decisions.
The institution will play an important role in the implementation of various schemes and help the farmers.
Patnaik also inaugurated a crèche ‘Kalika’ for the babies of employees working in Lok Seva Bhawan. In the initial stage, an arrangement has been made to accommodate 20 babies in the crèche.
