Odisha Plus-II admission: CHSE releases first phase cut-off percentages, Spot admission scope widens

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Thursday released the first phase of cut-off marks in Science, Commerce and Arts streams for admission into various Plus-II courses at several higher secondary schools in Odisha for the academic session of 2023-24.

As many as 4,12,368 students in various courses have been shortlisted in the first selection merit list.

Besides, the CHSE informed that the students, who would not get shortlisted in the first or second merit list, will now have more options to enroll in various courses through spot selection.

Earlier in spot selection, students had limited options to get admission only in those higher secondary schools which were selected by them in their respective original application forms.

However, following the change in provisions, students can apply for any higher secondary school of their choice. The selection will be carried out as per appropriate seat vacancy and cut-off marks.

Ravenshaw Higher Secondary School in Cuttack has topped the list in all three streams. It has set cut off percentage of 91.67 per cent in Science, 79.20 per cent in Commerce, and 80 per cent in Arts.

In Science stream, Fakir Mohan (FM) College in Balasore is second in the list with 90 per cent cut-off mark followed by Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar College (BJB) in Bhubaneswar with 89 per cent. Saraswati Vidya Mandir (SSVM) in Nilakantha Nagar (Berhampur) is fourth on the list with 89 per cent and Udayanath (UN) College in Soro with 86.83 per cent is in the fifth spot.

In Commerce stream, Rourkela Government College is second on the list with 77.33 per cent cut-off mark. It is followed by BJB College in Bhubaneswar with 77.33 per cent and Jatiya Kabi Bira Kishor Das (JKBK) College in Cuttack with 72.20 per cent. Shailabala Women’s College in Cuttack is in the fifth spot with the cut-off mark of 72.17 per cent.

In the Arts stream, Rourkela Government College is behind Raveshaw College with 79 per cent cut-off mark. It is followed by DAV College in Titlagarh with 78.67 per cent and FM College Balasore with 78 per cent. Bhawanipatna College is in the fifth spot with 77. 5 per cent cut-off mark.

The classes for various Plus-II courses will be commenced August 1, 2023, the CHSE informed.
