Koraput: Police arrested as many as four ‘Gramin Dak Sevak’ job aspirants for using fake educational certificates during the recruitment process in Jeypore town of Odisha’s Koraput district, a source said Saturday.
The matter came to fore during the document verification process of the aspirants. The postal department officials filed an FIR at Jeypore Town Police Station after the revelation of alleged forgery. Later, cops arrested the four accused, the source informed.
According to the source, all four accused had applied for the posts of branch postmaster (BPM) and assistant branch postmaster (ABPM).
The accused were identified as Dami Harijan and Gopal Krushna Pattnaik from Nabarangpur district; Kishore Khara from Malkangiri district, and Sarathi Halba from Koraput district.
In another similar incident, Sambalpur Division Postal Superintendent filed an FIR against six aspirants at Town Police station for allegedly using fake certificates to secure postal jobs.
Following the fake certificate scam in Bolangir district, the authorities in various government departments have tightened document verification of applicants.
