Odisha: Police recover decomposed bodies of three missing persons on hilltop; sorcery suspected

Balasore: Highly decomposed bodies of three missing persons, including two women, were recovered on the hilltop in Barapada village under Oupada police station in Balasore district of Odisha Thursday.

The trio, including a couple, identified as Dampa Singh, his wife Jalia Singh and Somabari Singh were mysteriously missing since Monday.

Reports said the family members had lodged an FIR in connection with their missing with police.

It is suspected that they were killed on suspicion of practising sorcery.

At least seven persons have been detained for interrogation, IIC of Oupada police station Sraban Kumar Maharana said.

The police have seized the bodies and sent them for autopsy. Further investigation on the matter is in progress, Maharana said.
