Odisha Police return empty-handed after minor girl refuses to come back to state

Sundargarh: Odisha police had to return empty-handed from Delhi after the minor girl who was rescued by the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) from Rajasthan refused to come back to her home.

The girl and her father refused to go with police as they have reportedly lost faith in police officials.

Earlier the girl’s father had sought help from police in rescuing his daughter but he didn’t reportedly get much assistance. Later he approached the DCW and rescued his daughter with its help. The antia-trafficking team of the commission conducted raids and rescued the girl, February 8. She was then admitted to a hospital as she was found pregnant.

The girl and her father have written a letter to the DCW, seeking its help to facilitate their stay at a Jharkhand-based shelter home.

The girl was residing at a village near Lathikata in Sundargarh district. Some of her relatives had abducted her and sold her to Mukesh Agrawal and Kishan Agrawal in Rajasthan. The accused Mukesh and Kishan have been arrested.

On being informed by the commission, a team of police officials had gone to Delhi to get back the girl and her father.
