Odisha COVID-19 tally rises to 17,437 with 736 new cases; 91 dead

Bhubaneswar: As many as 736 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in last 24 hours bringing the total number of infections so far in Odisha to 17,437, official data suggested Sunday.

According to Department of Information and Public Relations (I&PR) of the state government, out of the 736 infections, 481 were reported from quarantine centres and 255 were local cases.

Meanwhile, five persons lost their lives to the disease. While three of the deaths were reported from Ganjam, one each was reported from Jagatsinghpur and Sundargarh. Two other persons who had tested positive for the disease died of comorbidities, a state Department of Health notification said.

The state has so far conducted 3,86,102 tests.

According to state government data as of Sunday morning, 17,437 people have so far tested positive for COVID-19 in the state out of which 5,381 cases are active, 11,937 have recovered and 91 persons have died. Another 28 persons, who were diagnosed with COVID-19 died of co-morbidities while under treatment.
