Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 1,058 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 9,94,565. The active caseload in the state now stands at 10,428. Out of the 1,058 new infections, 616 were reported from quarantine centres while 442 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 1,132 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.
Odisha also reported 64 new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 6,887 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported 66 Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.
Khurda reported highest 16 deaths. It was followed by Nayagarh (13), Cuttack (12), Sambalpur (five), Subarnapur (four), Puri (two) and Balasore, Bargarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh districts (one each).
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 376 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 162 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Jajpur (77), Balasore (38), Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj (37 each), Angul, Bhadrak and Kendrapara (32 each), Puri (26), Dhenkanal (18), Nayagarh and Sundargarh (17 each), Bargarh (11), Kalahandi (eight), Sambalpur (six), Deogarh, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Malkangiri and Nuapada (five each), Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Koraput and Rayagada (four each), Boudh and Subarnapur (three each), Bolangir (two) and Nabarangpur (one).
The State Pool reported 82 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,70,26,394 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 1,198.
