Odisha registers 10,757 new COVID-19 cases; 22 more fatalities

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 10,757 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 6,22,981. The active caseload in the state now stands at 1,06,061. Out of the 10,757 new infections, 6,024 were reported from quarantine centres while 4,733 persons contracted the virus locally.

Odisha also reported 22 fresh fatalities taking the total tally in the state to 2,335 as per a tweet issued by the Health and Family Welfare department. Khurda, Boudh, Koraput, Nuapada, Rayagada and Sundargarh reported three deaths each while Angul registered one fatality. The districts of Gajapati and Puri reported one death each.

Cuttack district registered the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 973 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Khurda with 909 new infections.

Other districts that reported new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours are: Sundargarh (832), Angul (606), Bolangir (507), Nuapada (502), Sambalpur (494), Mayurbhanj (454), Bhadrak (443), Bargarh (404), Jharsuguda (388), Nabarangpur (386), Balasore (354), Puri (350), Dhenkanal (289), Koraput (282), Jajpur (281), Subarnapur (245), Nayagarh (227), Jagatsinghpur (219), Ganjam (209), Keonjhar (208), Kendrapara (148), Gajapati (141), Rayagada (136), Boudh (133), Kalahandi (125), Malkangiri (123), Deogarh (102) and Kandhamal (87).

The State Pool reported 200 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside the state and have tested positive.

A total of 1,09,41,192 swab samples have been cumulatively tested in Odisha so far.
