Odisha registers 11,099 new COVID-19 cases; Khurda highest with 1,460

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 11,099 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 6,44,401. The active caseload in the state now stands at 1,05,375. Out of the 11,099 new infections, 6,214 were reported from quarantine centres while 4,885 persons contracted the virus locally.

Odisha also reported 21 fresh fatalities taking the total tally in the state to 2,378 as per a tweet issued by the Health and Family Welfare department. Kalahandi alone reported (three); Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts including the State Capital (two each); Bolangir, Bargarh, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Puri districts (one each).

Khurda district registered the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 1,460 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Sundargarh with 983 new infections.

Other districts that reported new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours are: Cuttack (867), Angul (552), Sambalpur (547), Mayurbhanj (507), Bhadrak (431), Balasore (408), Jajpur (378), Puri (356), Nabarangpur (351), Bargarh (339), Jharsuguda (307), Jagatsinghpur (302), Kalahandi (299), Bolangir (288), Koraput (280), Nayagarh (277), Subarnapur (252), Nuapada (232), Boudh (213), Ganjam (196), Rayagada (170), Keonjhar (165), Dhenkanal (162), Kendrapara (156), Deogarh (107), Malkangiri (102), Kandhamal (88) and Gajapati (82).

The State Pool reported 242 new cases in the last 24 hours. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive. A total of 1,10,58,386 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 10,242.
