Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 1,243 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 9,87,070. The active caseload in the state now stands at 12,129. Out of the 1,243 new infections, 718 were reported from quarantine centres while 525 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 1,096 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.
Odisha also reported 69 new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 6,435 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported 64 Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.
Khurda reported highest 21 deaths. It was followed by Cuttack (13), Sambalpur (eight), Balasore and Sundargarh districts (six each), Bargarh and Keonjhar districts (five each), Jharsuguda (four) and Deogarh (one).
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 399 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 177 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Jagatsinghpur (88), Puri (69), Nayagarh (56), Angul (53), Jajpur and Subarnapur (50 each), Balasore (49), Mayurbhanj (35), Kendrapara (32), Dhenkanal (29), Bhadrak (22), Keonjhar (15), Sundargarh (14), Rayagada (13), Sambalpur (10), Bargarh (nine), Bolangir (six), Kandhamal (five), Boudh and Jharsuguda (four each), Gajapati and Malkangiri (three each), Ganjam, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Nuapada (two each) and Deogarh (one).
The State Pool reported 84 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,65,60,842 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 1,525.
