Odisha registers 263 new Covid-19 cases; 44 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 263 new Covid-19 cases, of which 44 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,44,962. Active caseload in the state now stands at 2,884.

Odisha also reported three (03) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,373 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Friday morning. The state had reported two (02) Covid-19 fatalities Thursday.

Khurda reported highest deaths (two). It was followed by Mayurbhanj (one).

Out of the 263 new infections, 153 were reported from quarantine centres while 110 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 271 cases of coronavirus infections Thursday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 129 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 21 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (7), Bhadrak (2), Bolangir (2), Deogarh (7), Dhenkanal (5), Gajapati (9), Ganjam (3), Jagatsinghpur (2), Jajpur (10), Jharsuguda (1), Kendrapara (2), Keonjhar (2), Koraput (1), Mayurbhanj (4), Nabarangpur (2), Puri (7), Sambalpur (6) and Sundargarh (9).

The State Pool reported 32 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 2,27,17,243 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 308.
