Odisha registers 271 new Covid-19 cases; 60 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 271 new Covid-19 cases, of which 60 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,44,699. Active caseload in the state now stands at 2,932.

Odisha also reported two (02) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,370 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Thursday morning. The state had reported four (04) Covid-19 fatalities Wednesday.

Bhadrak and Khurda districts reported one (01) death each.

Out of the 271 new infections, 158 were reported from quarantine centres while 113 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 387 cases of coronavirus infections Wednesday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 112 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 23 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (14), Bhadrak (2), Bolangir (1), Deogarh (8), Dhenkanal (5), Jagatsinghpur (7), Jajpur (10), Jharsuguda (2), Kalahandi (2), Kendrapara (2), Keonjhar (5), Malkangiri (5), Mayurbhanj (5), Nayagarh (1), Puri (7), Rayagada (4), Sambalpur (20), Subarnapur (1) and Sundargarh (10).

The State Pool reported 25 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 2,26,50,710 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 317.
