Odisha registers 2,912 new Covid-19 cases; 40 more fatalities

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 2,912 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 8,93,508. The active caseload in the state now stands at 33,156. Out of the new infections, 1,675 were reported from quarantine centres while 1,237 persons contracted the virus locally. The state also reported 40 new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally to 3,801 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new Covid-19 cases with 401 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 382 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Angul (119), Balasore (220), Bargarh (31), Bhadrak (136), Bolangir (12), Boudh (18), Deogarh (4), Dhenkanal (42), Gajapati (13), Ganjam (18), Jagatsinghpur (131), Jajpur (292), Jharsuguda (14), Kalahandi (35), Kandhamal (36), Kendrapara (71), Keonjhar (70), Koraput (54), Malkangiri (49), Mayurbhanj (174), Nabarangpur (50), Nayagarh (140), Nuapada (8), Puri (161), Rayagada (52), Sambalpur (30), Subarnapur (13) and Sundargarh (71).

The State Pool reported 65 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 1,34,17,387 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 3,486.
