Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 4,843 new Covid-19 cases, of which 663 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking tally in the state to 12,45,911. Active caseload in the state now stands at 53,090.
Odisha also reported nineteen (19) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking tally in the state to 8,594 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported fifteen (15) Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.
Khurda reported the highest deaths (five). It was followed by Ganjam (three), Angul and Nabarangpur districts (two each) and Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Puri districts (one each).
Out of total 4,843 new infections, 2,815 were reported from quarantine centres while 2,028 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 4,842 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 1,023 persons testing positive for the disease, followed by Sundargarh with 735 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Angul (58), Balasore (152), Bargarh (80), Bhadrak (60), Bolangir (95), Boudh (49), Cuttack (379), Deogarh (73), Dhenkanal (45), Gajapati (62), Ganjam (67), Jagatsinghpur (100), Jajpur (166), Jharsuguda (61), Kalahandi (158), Kandhamal (52), Kendrapara (70), Keonjhar (81), Koraput (50), Malkangiri (18), Mayurbhanj (152), Nabarangpur (137), Nayagarh (194), Nuapada (166), Puri (72), Rayagada (99), Sambalpur (128) and Subarnapur (73).
The State Pool reported 188 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 2,75,70,488 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 10,267.
