Odisha registers 488 new Covid-19 cases; 77 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 488 new Covid-19 cases, of which 77 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,41,457. Active caseload in the state now stands at 4,374.

Odisha also reported four (04) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,333 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported four (04) Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.

Khurda reported highest deaths (two). It was followed by Mayurbhanj and Puri districts (one each).

Out of the 488 new infections, 285 were reported from quarantine centres while 203 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 374 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 250 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 54 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Mayurbhanj (19), Puri (15), Sambalpur and Sundargarh (13 each), Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur (nine each), Ganjam and Kendrapara (eight each), Rayagada (six), Balasore, Dhenkanal and Gajapati (five each), Bhadrak and Jharsuguda (three each), Deogarh, Kalahandi and Nayagarh (two each) and Angul, Keonjhar, Koraput and Nuapada (one each).

The State Pool reported 53 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 2,19,94,343 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 490.
