Odisha registers 510 new Covid-19 cases; 79 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 510 new Covid-19 cases, of which 79 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,20,754. Active caseload in the state now stands at 5,494.

Odisha also reported six (06) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,141 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Monday morning. The state had reported seven (07) Covid-19 fatalities Sunday.

Subarnapur reported highest deaths (two), followed by Balasore, Boudh, Cuttack and Nayagarh districts (one each).

Out of the 510 new infections, 297 were reported from quarantine centres while 213 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 623 cases of coronavirus infections Sunday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 197 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 78 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (33), Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur (22 each), Puri (20), Mayurbhanj (14), Ganjam (12), Bhadrak and Sambalpur (nine each), Jharsuguda (eight), Gajapati and Kendrapara (seven each), Kandhamal and Malkangiri (four each), Angul, Koraput, Rayagada and Sundargarh (three each) and Bolangir, Boudh, Kalahandi, Keonjhar and Nayagarh (one each).

The State Pool reported 47 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 1,93,19,191 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 746.
