Odisha registers 526 new Covid-19 cases; 68 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 526 new Covid-19 cases, of which 68 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,31,044. Active caseload in the state now stands at 5,035.

Odisha also reported four (04) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,242 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Saturday morning. The state had reported four (04) Covid-19 fatalities Friday.

Nabarangpur reported highest deaths (two), followed by Bolangir and Jagatsinghpur districts (one each).

Out of the 526 new infections, 303 were reported from quarantine centres while 223 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 524 cases of coronavirus infections Friday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 233 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 63 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (33), Mayurbhanj (29), Sundargarh (19), Jagatsinghpur (16), Kendrapara (14), Jajpur (13), Puri (11), Sambalpur (seven), Koraput (four), Angul, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Ganjam and Kandhamal (three each), Bargarh, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Nayagarh and Rayagada (two each) and Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Subarnapur (one each).

The State Pool reported 55 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 2,05,78,622 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 598.
