Odisha registers 528 new Covid-19 cases; 73 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 528 new Covid-19 cases, of which 73 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,27,959. Active caseload in the state now stands at 5,280.

Odisha also reported five (05) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,214 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported seven (07) Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.

Khurda reported highest deaths (two). It was followed by Cuttack, Ganjam and Jajpur districts (one each).

Out of the 528 new infections, 310 were reported from quarantine centres while 218 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 478 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 243 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 69 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Mayurbhanj (31), Jagatsinghpur (24), Puri (17), Jajpur (16), Sambalpur (14), Balasore and Sundargarh (nine each), Kendrapara (eight), Bhadrak (six), Ganjam and Jharsuguda (four each), Deogarh and Koraput (three each), Bargarh, Nayagarh and Subarnapur (two each) and Angul, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur (one each).

The State Pool reported 59 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 2,01,72,526 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 579.
