Odisha registers 529 new Covid-19 cases; 62 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 529 new Covid-19 cases, of which 62 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,32,673. Active caseload in the state now stands at 5,141.

Odisha also reported six (06) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,261 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Tuesday morning.

Out of the 529 new infections, 308 were reported from quarantine centres while 221 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 652 cases of coronavirus infections Sunday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 274 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 37 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Mayurbhanj (23), Balasore (20), Jajpur (15), Puri (13), Kendrapara and Sambalpur (11 each), Sundargarh (10), Jagatsinghpur (8), Keonjhar and Nayagarh (7 each), Ganjam and Nuapada (6 each), Bhadrak and Gajapati (3 each), Jharsuguda (2), Balangir, Deogarh, Dhenkanal and Rayagada (one each)

The State Pool reported 63 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 2,07,65,245 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 469.
